Joint Wedding 60 Years After The War

Through the Gangdong and Hanam Branch Shincheonji Volunteer Group (Region Representative Ko Kyung Bok) a joint wedding took place for two married couples due to the inability to have an official wedding due to the 6.25 war. This wedding ceremony took place 60 years after the war had ended which was a reminder of their vows made during that time.

The two married couples had their wedding take place on the 13th in Gyeonggido Hanam region through the Shincheonji True Light Church. The event took place to congratulate these two married couples and family members had attended. The event took place in the order of exchanging letters and vows, a celebration performance, a march, a memorial, a family photo and dinner.

One veteran of the war veterans said to his wife, "It has been a long time since the Korean War." "I think about the time we've been together can’t stop to hold my tears. I regret that I do not have anything for you, and my heart aches, but most importantly, let's live happily ever after."

Lee Jong-gu (87), a veteran of 68 years said, "Because I was married during the war, I could not get a proper wedding ceremony. Although I was married, I was not able to spend that time in marriage for two years since I was on duty during the war. Mr. Lee was very thankful for the help that Shincheonji Volunteers were able to give.

Following, Lee Jong-gu’s wife, Lee Gye-sun (87)  replied, “I am so thankful for the Shincheonji Volunteer Corps to the point that I cannot express it in words.” Furthermore she said, “If I knew the wedding would be sumptuously organized, I would have asked for my son and daughter-in-law to have prepared this for me.”

A volunteer from the Shinchonji Volunteer Group, Gangdong and Hanam branch said with inspiration, "I would like to present this gift of happiness to the veterans who were not able to enjoy the moment of marriage due to war that took place when they were younger.”
