너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희에게 말씀하신 대로 너희 밟는 모든 땅 사람들로 너희를 두려워하고 무서워하게 하시리니 너희를 능히 당할 사람이 없으리라(신명기 11:25)

Protestant group "Believers who belong to Christian Council of Korea (CCK) is only 3%." denial of representability

Analyzed Data of current status in religion, reported by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, "The number of churches which belong to CCK is 21%, reflecting phenomenon of churches being overflowed"

Attendees are reading a plea letter at press conference interviewing senior pastors of Christian committee which is held at Korean Christian center in Jongno-gu Seoul on 8th.

Religious influence of Christian Council of Korea (CCK) among Korean churches

President of Christian Council of Korea (CCK) Jeon Kwang Hoon who caused controversy over hip-shooter insisted that Christian Council of Korea (CCK) is the representative group among Protestant Christianity in Korea. However, there is an analysis of CCK lacking representation since, in fact, the number of believers who belong to Christian Council of Korea (CCK) is only 3% out of total Protestant Christianity in Korea.

On 27th, (Corp.) Christian Ethics Movement of Korea (hereafter referred to as CEMK) announced that "According to analysis result of 'Religious Status of Korea in 2018' reported by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, a total of 374 Protestant denominations were identified in Korea. Among them, only 67 denominations which come out to be 18% out of Protestant Christianity in Korea belong to Christian Council of Korea (CCK)."

CEMK said that "79 denominations registered at Christian Council of Korea (CCK) website. Of those, 10 denominations have already notified administrative hold to Christian Council of Korea (CCK). The denominations which requested administrative hold are no longer cooperating with CCK. Thus, in fact, it refers to renunciation of Christian Council of Korea (CCK)."

CEMK also explained that "Recently, The Assemblies of God of Korea (Kihasung) decided administrative hold. In addition, The Korea Baptist Convention has stopped its activities. So, the fact is only 67 denominations which come out to be 18% belong to Christian Council of Korea (CCK)."

The number of churches which belong to Christian Council of Korea (CCK) is 21% which equals to 17,855 churches out of 83,883. CEMK estimated that the reason why percentage is high reflects the phenomenon that the church is overflowing.

The number of teachers in Protestant Christianity in Korea is 98,305. Of those, only 2,850 teachers which come out to be 3% belong to Christian Council of Korea (CCK). The number of believers in Protestant Christianity in Korea is 1,132,750 total and 349,471 believers which come out to be 3% belong to Christian Council of Korea (CCK).

CEMK affirmed that precise comparison is difficult in religious status since there are many denominations which has no record of teachers and believers counted. When considering most of denominations which belong to Christian Council of Korea (CCK) is small churches, there is no possibility that there will be no dramatic increase."

This group emphasized that "The purpose of this analysis is to verify the fact since Christian Council of Korea (CCK) acts as if they represent Protestant Christianity in Korea. The real reason why Christian Council of Korea (CCK) is not representative is their claims are neither religious nor common. In addition, they refused to take the pastor Jeon’s claim which is 'Christian Council of Korea (CCK) being representative in Korean Protestant Christianity'. Hip-shooter and eccentricity by Christian Council of Korea (CCK) and Jeon Kwang Hoon will attract attention one or two times. But, in the end it will speed up the isolation and the dismantling of Christian Council of Korea (CCK). Christian Council of Korea (CCK) has no future."
