Shincheonji Church of Jesus Pours its Heart into its ‘Pink Cloth Delivering Warmth’ initiative



Volunteers of Shincheonji Church of Jesus cooked a side dish, to be delivered to marginalized elderly people, in the kitchen of the Paju branch of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Paju city, Gyeonggi province, on the morning of 3rd July. 


“I will take care of the pork so that you can wash and chop vegetables, and take care of the seasonings and dishes.”

The kitchen of a church in Paju, Gyeonggi province, at 7:30am on 3rd July. Five 40~50-year-old women were immersed in cooking side dishes.

Members of Shincheonji Volunteer Group’s Paju branch wore cooking aprons and delivered side dishes to marginalized elderly people in the neighborhood.

The Paju branch carries out its ‘Pink Cloth Delivering Warmth’ initiative twice a month. The ‘Pink Cloth Delivering Warmth’ initiative delivers side dishes to elderly and poor people living alone in the local area.


In the morning of July 3rd, a volunteer chopped vegetables for side dishes, to be delivered to elderly people living alone, in the kitchen of the Paju branch of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Paju city, Gyeonggi province. 


Volunteers visited lone grandfathers and grandmothers with delicious stir-fried eggplant, bracken and stir-fried sweet and spicy pork.

Mrs. Misook Seong, the kitchen’s head cook, volunteers with 10 years’ experience of running a restaurant. Mrs. Seong said, “I’m striving to cook hearty meals with fresh ingredients for older citizens.”

Members, who volunteered twice a month, showed good teamwork, cooking side dishes in no time. Two members ran out of the kitchen to hurriedly go to work with a short ‘good bye’.

Mrs. Jumok Kang, SVG’s Paju branch manager, said, “The reason they participate in this volunteer work, even though it uses up their time before work, is to carry out the sacrificial love of Jesus.”


In the morning of July 3rd, a volunteer cooked stir-fried eggplant and stir-fried spicy pork, to be delivered to elderly people living alone, in the kitchen of the Paju branch of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Paju city, Gyeonggi province. 


That day, volunteers packed side dishes into 3 beautiful pink cloth containers, and visited Mrs. Choondo Lee.

“Thank you for visiting. I’m sorry to bother you.”

Mrs. Lee welcomed SVG at the front door. SVG, who met Mrs. Lee, greeted her and gave her a shoulder massage.


In the morning of July 3rd, SVG delivered side dishes packaged in pink cloth, and massaged Mrs. Lee’s shoulder at a house in Paju city, Gyeonggi province. 


Moreover, Shincheonji Church of Jesus operates 70 branches of Shincheonji Volunteer Group nationwide with 6 main initiatives. SVG is the biggest voluntary organisation in Korea.

SVG’s voluntary initiatives, to name a few, include mural-paintings, giving a helping hand in rural areas, ▲’The Pink Cloth Delivering warmth’ initiative donating lunch for marginalized people ▲‘Shincheonji Multicultural Center’ for foreign workers ▲Street-Cleaning campaign ‘Protect the green nature’, and, ▲’Door2(to)Door Healthcare. SVG carries out societal initiatives for war veterans, people with disabilities and the general public, transcending culture, religion, race and border. Moreover, SVG has taken an active lead in its ▲Door2(to)Door Healthcare initiative in February ▲National Environmental Conservation and ‘Wall-Painting Stories with Hope’ initiatives in April, and, ▲ ‘Love for all nations & Sharing of peace’ initiative in July, as well as street parades, cheer-leading, protocol etc. 

Shincheonji Volunteer Group reported that it served 130,000 people through the efforts of 145,000 congregation members last year.

As their voluntary activity grew, they received more recognition and awards from local society and the government. Shincheonji Church of Jesus’ 12 tribes received 166 awards last year.

A representative of Shincheonji Volunteer Group said: “Now we are carrying out voluntary activities with people who previously had misconceptions about Shincheonji Church of Jesus, and we are also signing MOUs with government offices for various voluntary activities. We are becoming the light and salt for local society by putting our love of Jesus into practice.”
